Open Character AI is operated by BookAI Studio, a DBA of BrightSpan Holdings LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the service collects and how it is used.

Information we collect

Account information from Google sign-in (name, email address, profile image). The personas you create (names, descriptions, settings), your chat conversations with personas, and per-chat tuning choices. Payment information is collected and processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.

How we use information

To run your chats, save your personas and conversation history, manage credits and billing, prevent abuse, and improve the service. Chat messages are processed by our AI provider (MuAPI) to generate persona replies.

Sharing

We share data only with the processors needed to run the service: MuAPI (AI chat generation), Stripe (payments), and Google (sign-in). We do not sell personal information. Treat chats as stored account data, not as a private diary: do not share sensitive personal information with personas.

Retention and your choices

Your personas and chats are kept while your account is active. You may delete creations in the product, and you may request deletion of your account data through the contact options on bookaistudio.com.

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. Last updated: October 23, 2026.
